The Dark Knight finally meets his match. That might be an understatement because his nemesis is not only some sort of genius on the level of Stephen hawking but he also posses the raw brute force of Mike Tyson in his prime. with an army of willing combatants ready to fight and die at his command he is transformed from the comic books into the epitome of military power.
The subplot is a story of how the once violent city of Gotham has flourished after the events of part 2. The creation of the harvey dent act have squelched crime to the point where batman is no longer required. In this time the rich have gotten richer and the poor have merely survived. But a certain subtle apathy has set in. And when the diabolical Bane comes to town, he recognizes the fragility of that society as clear as a ticking time bomb. He rationalizes that Gotham needs the right push to create the spark that will cause not only the batman to come out of retirement but the entire police force to fall into his deadly trap.
It\'s an ingenious multilayer plan that requires multiple scenarios to fall in succession in order to reach a total reversal of the cities environment, local government and utilize the cities poor and forgotten to rise up and tear the city apart while he moves onto his final faze which will ultimately annihilate the city once and for all.
Like Rocky III Batman\'s first encounter with this imposing villain doesn\'t go so well because as much as he knows about his nemesis his nemesis apparently knows infinitely more than he does. resulting in a brutal beat down and capture and then imprisonment in an ancient prison only one person has ever escaped from alive. To get out he must do something that requires him to let loose a strength that he once saw as his power and embrace death in order to live.
It\'s an epic story full of twist and turns and ghosts from his pasts that have come to kill him or rise up and fight along side him in a winner take all conclusion to the Dark Knight Legend.
I don\'t know if it\'s the best third act ever. That distinction may always belong to THE GOOD THE BAD & THE UGLY. But it\'s close enough. And a fitting conclusion to Nolans remarkable reboot of the once disgraced franchise that is now the template by which all future super hero trilogies will be measured.

Glad you said that. I mostly prefer to watch with both eyes open and my ears ready to absorb all a movie has to offer without bias of any kind going in. But then again i do a lot of research on movies so i usually know what to expect and not to expect going in. So i am rarely shocked by what i see. And at my age i've mostly seen it all anyway.
But when a movie just comes out of nowhere with a name of one of my favorite guilty pleasures in the last 10 years i am tempted to try it out.
But when a man keeps it that brief and scores a movie that low. i know he's telling the truth. There are just some rides that aren't worth the time.
It goes without saying that if you haven\'t seen this movie than you haven\'t experienced all that life has to offer you. it\'s old but not ancient. i can still remember seeing this on summer break with ma and demanding a second viewing with my brother after.
On the surface its the story of a buttoned down FBI man newly assigned to LA to work with an older cop with a wild idea concerning a recent string of bank robberies that have been occurring for the past couple summers.
To test his theory the young FBI man a man by the name of Johnny Utah jumps into the fire head first expecting the worst. Or maybe nothing at all but a dead end. instead he finds himself becoming balanced and protected by men who work by a code and never betray either trust. they live by honor, surfing by day and partying the night away.
Along the way Johnny becomes so close to this very charismatic crew that he begins to change almost into an amalgamation of them entirely. lusting after their lifestyle more than the badge he swore to uphold.
But it is when that inevitable twist occurs that he finds himself caught in a relationship that has compromised him in the worst possible way. And he soon finds his entire world threatened with destruction if he doesn\'t go all the way into hell with a fiend who is obsessed with catching the ultimate rush.
Filmed with beautiful artistry, blessed with a elegant score and featuring some of the great actors in their prime. And directed by my favorite female director this is one summer movie that emotionally potent and commanded by a top notch hand.
This is kathryn bigelow\'s ultimate masterpiece.

Good copy. Liked it a lot. It was redone pretty good. If you liked the old one then you will like this one. It is basically the old one redone. I like this version just as much as the old one. Well done. Would recommend it for a watch and I\'ll be watching it again myself. (Glad I didn\'t listen to the nay-sayers)
The Masterfully crafted opening minutes set the tone for the battle fans have waited 4 films and three decades to actually see.
Though it is brief the effect is an onslaught of emotion and a battle that matches your anticipation of the event as the ultimate soldier delivers a defiant monologue that matches the spirit of the james cameron hero we never truly got to see in action.
And for the next 2 hours you will witness mayhem and chaos designed by the hands of a natural (whoever this director is he just ripped the mic from Cameron) he carves out action sequences that are intricate, overwhelming heart stopping and wickedly awesome. In effect delivering a Molotov cocktail of pulse pounding suspense laden sequences topped off by mighty action delivered at a high order rate. The helicopter chase sequence itself is not only nonstop but escalates to a level of action that could be considered action porn. I can easily see a true terminator fan standing in the aisle and stroking it like an insane monkey with a wide grin. It\'s just awesome. Awesome.
One of the films problems is the dialogue gets rather caught up in exposition. Which is the sign of a writer who either is over trying to explain what\'s going on to his audience or sign that he doesn\'t believe in what he is writing at all. So the dialogue spirals about into rambles about alternate timelines, quantum psycis mumbo jumbo. that are unnatural and unconvincing and though they are informative i began to get a headache as did Reese at a certain event as the movie\'s dialogue turns into an instruction manual.
But than we get to this... As a result of recent comments i have elected to reconstruct this review and leave the true enemy of this audacious movie confined under a spoiler tag. which you may read at your own peril...
Back in 09 word leaked out about a plot twist concerning john conner becoming a terminator. The response was significant and swift. Fans invaded hollywood in revolt holding pick axes and demanding MCG\'s head on a plate... Well not really. But if you remember that backlash you know that it caused producers to force him to rewrite it. Luckily for MCG he didn\'t do it anyway but the damage was done and by the time that movie was released fans skipped his version anticipating the worst... Unfortunately for genesis no one leaked it. That could have saved this movie. where genesys fails mightily is in taking MCG\'s wisely discarded twist and actually \"embellishing\" it in the worst way imaginable. As it is revealed to anyone who saw the second trailer now knows that the great John Connor is no longer the hero. but the main bad?
Which is a crying shame because the T-3000 is an awesome concept that dwarfs the T-1000 meager skill-set.
This is very a difficult one of me to take. T-5 has the unwelcome distinction of both being among the best sequels ever made yet and something ugly rivaling matrix revolutions... on one hand it\'s original and very well made. on another and equally infuriating note is the betrayal and dismissal of the person we\'ve waited so long to gaze upon with envy. And as an act of almost betrayal/blasphemy even, he becomes evil. even sarah conners conversations with Reese paint john as a selfish man out for his own survival... it\'s just odd. in some respects the story is highly recommendable. but it\'s big sin is in destroying the legacy of John Conner and then killing him completely.
Well now, I\'ll rate Genesys as a push.
Though i am mildly curious to see where this is going. if T6 sucks or isn\'t superior to this in a major way than this movie is obsolete and they should just hand the rights back to cameron.
